Job Summary
* Obtains blood specimens (on or off site) following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements.
* Obtains specimens (on or off site) requiring special collection procedures following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements.
* Receives and distributes specimens in the laboratory.
* Processes specimens for testing, storage and send out to reference laboratories.
* Provides assistance to clients. Picks up and delivers specimens / reports to clients (may use company car) and acts as liaison between the client and the laboratory.
* Assists with vehicle maintenance and promotes safe driving.
* Diagnostic electrocardiogram on outpatients and Therapeutic INR QC and testing procedures.
* Performs testing procedures as indicated by section.
Qualifications
Education
* High school education or equivalent.
* Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience
* 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing, or current MLT student in clinical rotations, or one or more college level courses in a biological science
(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).
Licensure/Certification
* Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
Compensation/Benefits
* $14.29-$23.24/hr depending on previous work experience
