Overview Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Laboratory Assistant who provides laboratory support duties. Work involves performance of a variety of laboratory tasks of minimal complexity to assist in the maintenance and operation of a research or analytical laboratory. Performs work in compliance with and according to established guidelines and quality control standards. This is the first level in the laboratory series. This position will be in support of the Operationally Relevant Infections Department of the Infectious Diseases Directorate at the Naval Medical Research Command. The Henry M. Responsibilities Assists in preparing equipment and in materials for testing, assays, and experiments. Prepares reagents, solutions, and culture media in accordance with standard operating procedures. Maintains and provides custodial care for laboratory specimens, slides, models, supplies, and glassware. Maintains laboratory equipment and performs general monitoring, calibration, and maintenance. Small animal handling. Will require the completion of additional training within the first 3 months of hire. Documents tasks and records observations in accordance with good practice quality guidelines and regulations (GxP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and protocol requirements. Adheres to laboratory quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) plans and procedures. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role. Qualifications Education and Experience Highschool Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 0-2 years experience required. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and supplies. Ability to follow detailed instructions. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check. Physical Capabilities Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs. Work Environment This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting. Compensation The hourly pay range for this position is $17.21-$21.63.
