Job Description:
The primary role of the Laboratory Construction Technician includes all aspects of building large-scale assemblies in the Schluter Systems, LP Technical Laboratory.Scope and Responsibilities:•Construction of laboratory testing o Construction of large-scale testing assemblies, including wood framing assemblies, small concrete pads, showers, etc. o Installation of waterproof membranes, tile and associated components o Demolition and disposal of assemblies•Conduct laboratory testing on a wide variety of products, components and assemblies inaccordance with industry standards or as required by in-house test procedures•Document, evaluate and interpret laboratory data•Train and mentor less experienced colleagues on laboratory construction-related tasks and duties•Organize and maintain the laboratory workshop including tools and equipment•Monitor and maintain inventory for standard stock test materials, consumables and other items o Coordinate and assist in the ordering/purchasing process o Develop and/or maintain minimum and maximum quantities•Operation of driving and walk-behind forklifts for movement and storage of test assemblies and inventory•Basic plumbing and electrical work as it relates to testing and lab activities•Disposal of laboratory construction and cementitious waste•Collaborate with other departments (R&D, Product Management, etc.) to collect, evaluate and analyze data•Maintenance, calibration, and operation of laboratory tools and equipment•Conduct product and industry research to support laboratory testing•Understanding / learning of industry standards as they relate to Schluter products and installation methods•Learn and train in the correct use and application of Schluter Systems products. This may require travel to Schluter Systems Innovation Workshops•Potential travel to Schluter Systems Headquarters in Iserlohn, Germany for extended training period (up to 2 weeks)•Special projects as requested by management•Adherence to laboratory rules, procedures and safety requirements•Collaborate with international colleagues as part of the Schluter Systems International Technical Network as needed•Other duties as assignedRequirements•High School Diploma or equivalent•3+ years of hands-on construction experience required•Basic plumbing and electrical skills•Tile installation experience required•Experience with Schluter Systems products preferred•Laboratory experience preferred•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs•General computer skills (e.g. email, basic Microsoft Office knowledge)•Strong Communication skills, written and verbal•Self-motivated, detail oriented professional with strong organizational skillsCOMPANY BENEFITS•Generous PTO•10 Paid Holidays•Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance•Guaranteed Biannual Bonuses•401k with Company Match•Company Paid Life Insurance•Annual Raises•Room for AdvancementCOMPANY DESCRIPTIONSchluter Systems is a family-owned and internationally renowned company that has been rapidly growing over the last 10 years.
