Arbuckle Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Boasting a new hospital in 2011, AMH has a 24-hour emergency room, which is staffed by ER physicians and designated as a Level IV Trauma Center. The hospital serves over 12,000 patients annually. AMH treats over 7,000 emergencies each year including heart attack and stroke patients. The hospital has four admitting physicians including three employed physicians and a contractor. Additionally, AMH operates a full-service clinic on campus, which as 15 exam rooms, two physicians, and three nurse practitioners. Clinic hours are 7am to 7pm, Monday to Thursday and 7am to 5pm on Friday. The hospital is supported by a one cent county sales tax.*ArbuckleHospital has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The tasks or duties assigned to this jobcould affect the safety and health of the employee or others. Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of workersengaged in performing chemical, microscopic, and bacteriology tests to obtaindata for use in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. In addition also performs all duties as anMT when required or needed. EssentialDuties and Responsibilities: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assigns, directs and schedules staff and overseesperformance of tests in fields of microbiology, chemistry, hematology,immunohematology and serology. Creates,evaluates and modifies department's policies and procedures. Establishes standards, reference ranges andmethods of control for each laboratory test performed. Plans, designs anddirects installation of new or improved laboratory techniques. Prepares and administers laboratorybudget. Purchases or directs purchase oflaboratory equipment and supplies and recommends purchase of capitalequipment. Directs maintenance ofinventory supply system. Prepares ordirects preparation of various qualitative and quantitative reports andrecords. Designs and administers qualitycontrol program for each section. Consults on work in progress and completed work to assure accuracy. Directs the proper storage of hazardousmaterials and the laboratory safety program. Performs specialized and more difficult tests and procedures. Reviews current literature and attendsmeetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments in field. Coordinates and conducts education andtraining programs for laboratory personnel. SupervisoryResponsibilities Directly supervises laboratory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities inaccordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiringand training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraisingperformance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints andresolving problems. Education,Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Bachelor's degree from four-year college oruniversity. Certification as a MedicalTechnologist and one to two years related supervisory experience and ASCP certified preferred. LanguageSkills Ability to read, analyze,and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technicalprocedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and proceduremanuals. Ability to effectively presentinformation and respond to questions for groups of manager, clients, customersand the general public. MathematicalSkills Ability to calculatefigures and amounts such as dilutions, proportions, percentages andvolume. Ability to apply concepts ofbasic algebra and geometry. ReasoningAbility Ability to solvepractical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situationswhere only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,oral, diagram or schedule forms. ComputerSkills To perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual should have knowledge of Laboratory InformationSystems order processing systems.
