POSITION SUMMARY:The Target Production Group at the University of Rochester¿s Laboratory for Laser Energetics has a technical position open for a laboratory engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating production of millimeter-sized assemblies to be used for experiments on the OMEGA and OMEGA EP laser systems.RESPONSIBILITIES:Interface with scientific staff to determine feasibility of design and characterization requirementsCoordinate with primary and third-party vendors to acquire componentsManage multiple experimental campaigns at once to meet deadlinesDocument record systems for accuracy and content and amend procedures to improve yield, efficiency, and quality of the productConstruct components into assemblies and measure the final product to ensure it meets specificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS:Typically requires a Bachelor¿s degree in a scientific or related discipline and a minimum of two or more years of experience in a scientific or technical field. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education.Strong organization skills are required.
