Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time applicants accepted. License: Illinois license needed in hand for most roles; refer to job description for exceptions. Certifications: ASCP-HT required Must-Have: - Cerner experience- Teaching & Community Hospital experience- Must be in Illinois 3 business days prior to compliance HDD for fingerprinting requirements Job Description: - Work setting experience required in commercial or reference laboratories, or hospital clinical laboratory.- Strong grossing and fixation skills including working with additive and coagulant fixatives, core biopsies, decalcification, formalin, and identifying pigments through a microscope.- Proficient in tissue processing skills with experience in automatic tissue processor, calcified/decalcified tissue, and GI processing schedule.- Skilled in embedding and microtomy, including both automated/manual microtome, cutting tissue sections, and paraffin wax sections.- Ability to perform staining techniques such as cytoplasmic stains, differentiation, and hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stain.- Expertise in mounting procedures with skills in aqueous, coverslip, and resinous mounting.- Quality control experience required.- Will not float within scope to meet facility needs.- Open to accommodating block schedule (Monday to Friday).- Locals accepted with no radius restrictions.- Rotation to work 2 out of 3 major holidays required.- Weekend work not required.- No on-call requirements.- Modules completed virtually on the first day by end of day, then annually for 16 hours non-billable.
