The Opportunity
The Abbott Nutrition (AN) Laboratory Information Systems Specialist position works out of our Columbus, OH location in the Nutrition Division .
The Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) Specialist has an in-depth knowledge of and experience in laboratory testing data systems and requirements. The position is responsible for:
Management of the Laboratory Data Management systems
Reviews and approves master data change requests.
Assures escalations of changes with potential major impact to the global AN network
Confirms people, culture, and knowledge transfer management.
Leads, coordinates, and performs testing, verification, and validation of user and system requirements.
Management of the Laboratory Data Management business processes
Analyzes and drives standardization of the LIMS Data Management business processes.
Creates and updates necessary policies, processes, and SOPs and works to drive decisions and approvals necessary to stay compliant to the quality system requirements for the AN LIMS Data Management business processes.
Works directly with user groups to understand specific business processes, drivers, and strategy across multiple sites and departments.
Supports the Laboratory Data Management systems.
Identifies and addresses any needs associated with the management, maintenance, and effective business use of quality information systems for multiple user groups and areas globally.
Keeps commitments to and achieves attainment of key milestones and obtains alignment with the overall AN strategy.
Recognizes and communicates resulting needs and opportunities for business process improvements that can be enabled through people, process, and technology initiatives.
Investigates and understands user needs in relation to the capabilities of existing systems and technologies and creates requests for required support per the business strategy.
What You'll Work On
Works on supporting production users and user-related issues.
Troubleshoots issues in SampleManager (AN LIMS) and Empower
Provides end user training for new projects as well as existing functionality.
Identifies business process improvements and helps plan and execute improvement projects.
Reviews and leads information systems process standardization plans to support the overall AN strategy Identifies the business benefits to support strategic requirements of quality and compliance.
Ensures compliance between business strategies and technology directions.
Builds relationships with others to remain current on status of issues resolutions and informs management of progress.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU'LL BRING
Required:
Bachelor's Degree – Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Life Science or IT Science/Technical field
Minimum 3 years' experience
Preferred:
Experience in microbiology and environmental monitoring is a plus.
Experience in a regulated food industry with knowledge of standards and requirements and experience in the scale- up and/or commercialization of product innovations.
Ability to provide technical expertise, consultation, and recommendations to internal customers to improve end user experiences.
Ability to think independently to solve problems, analyze data and troubleshoot problems expeditiously.
Ability to successfully interact and communicate with all organizational levels internally and externally (e.g. vendors)
Demonstrated ability to manage several activities / projects at once, organize / prioritize work.

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
