Application for Laboratory Manager - Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry seeks a Laboratory Manager (to be appointed at the Associate or more senior Professional Specialist rank) to oversee a research laboratory that focuses on the fields of organic synthesis and catalysis or photochemistry. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field, preferably with over ten years of additional research experience in synthetic organic chemistry. Responsibilities include managing spending on federal and corporate sponsored grants, and unrestricted research funding; proposal and budget development, and coordinating sponsored research and other grant submissions. The lab manager's responsibilities will also include but are not limited to managing the laboratory equipment and facilities, conducting research, overseeing the ordering of supplies and equipment, lab financial management, supervising researchers, acting as the lab safety officer, and interacting with the departmental administration. Essential Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and have working knowledge of general laboratory equipment and materials; the ability to work independently within a team environment; and have excellent organizational, record-keeping, and verbal and written communication skills. In addition, candidates must be self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to supervise others. Candidates must possess excellent skills in finding novel approaches to cost savings. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University.
