Position Summary
The MAE Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Materials Lab and the Measurements & Controls Lab for the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Collaborate with with teaching faculties to facilitate the teaching of laboratory courses; supporting the department in developing new curricula and lab projects; and supervise and train staff. Establishing laboratory safety training, FDNY C14 certification training and maintain equipment and instrument service records. Supervise equipment operations; create and disseminate standard operating procedures and policies. In addition, the position will contribute to the department's research and training mission.
Qualifications
Required Education:Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering field Preferred Education:Doctoral Degree Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering field Master's Degree Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering field Required Experience:3+ years working in a laboratory environment, supervision and managing budgets Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:High level of independent thinking, creativity, and goal-oriented productivity. Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. Ability to identify and support the implementation of best practices. Project management, teaching, and/or mentoring experience. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Must be well-versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00 to USD $110,000.00. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
