Laboratory Operations & Compliance Manager
Pathology Services of Springfield is seeking a Laboratory Professional to oversee the operations of their private reference laboratory.
SummaryPlans, directs, coordinates, and monitors all areas of Histology, Cytology, and Molecular testing, reporting, and compliance, including, but not limited to, Policies and Procedures, Quality Systems, Audits, Staff Credentials, Training, Competency, HIPAA, and Safety.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:· Overseeing and ensuring laboratory compliance as defined by CAP, CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and any other required agencies to ensure required accreditation, regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
· Overseeing the timely compiling of laboratory records and statistical reporting for histology, cytology, and molecular testing.
· Ensuring timely completion of training and competency assessments.
· Writing and maintaining laboratory policies, procedures, training records, competency assessments in MediaLab.
· Providing oversight of laboratory workflow and performance.
· Providing technical support and expertise when needed.
· Overseeing supply inventory and costs.
· Serving as a liaison between the laboratory and Cox Health Systems, including hospital and clinic administrators, and outside equipment vendors and LIS usage as required.
· Demonstrating the ability to perform and/or delegate duties in a responsible manner.
· Utilizing critical thinking to identify opportunities for improvement and determining appropriate actions to achieve goals.
· Documenting laboratory performance deviations and implementing improvement plans in coordination with the Practice Manager and supervisory staff.
· Working with Practice Manager to assess laboratory staffing needs and hire required personnel.
· Providing training plans for new laboratory hires and assisting with training as necessary.
· Assisting Practice Manager with conflict resolution and problem solving.
Minimum Qualifications· Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science OR meets requirements for High Complexity Testing as defined by CLIA.
· Three years of laboratory supervisory experience, including compliance and safety.
· Certification with ASCP BOC, preference to Histology Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist but other certifications may be considered.
