Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead and oversee our clients laboratory, production, and analyst teams. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of our laboratories, managing daily processes, troubleshooting equipment, developing solutions, and guiding the team towards continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory Operations:

  • Lead the daily operations of laboratory activities, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain lab equipment, such as LC-MS systems, vacuum pumps, and other critical instruments.
  • Oversee the preparation of all laboratory solutions, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures for solution preparation and quality control protocols.
  • Manage the timely approval and shipment of calibration standards and quality controls (every 3 weeks).

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:

  • Ensure laboratory operations meet all regulatory requirements (e.g., COLA, CLIA).
  • Lead and manage COLA/CLIA surveys, ensuring proper documentation and facilitating interactions with surveyors.
  • Update and maintain laboratory manuals, ensuring they are current and compliant (at least annually).
  • Track and manage continuing education requirements for lab technicians, ensuring they meet state-specific regulations.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Manage up to six 360 laboratories, ensuring all laboratories are fully operational and compliant.
  • Lead the onboarding process for new laboratory implementations, ensuring seamless integration and quick sample processing.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to lab team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and facilitate team growth, ensuring high levels of productivity and employee satisfaction.
  • Hold regular team meetings to align on goals, track progress, and address challenges.

Special Projects & Continuous Improvement:

  • Oversee the management and monitoring of LIS clients, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of LIS products and services.
  • Conduct annual method development to assess current practices and explore new methods to improve laboratory operations.
  • Lead Split Sample Testing events twice annually, ensuring thorough testing and accurate results.
  • Assist with pre-approval and post-approval processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • When qualified, step into roles such as Laboratory Director, General Supervisor, or Technical Consultant as necessary.

Collaboration & Cross-functional Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the business team to ensure sufficient inventory levels of lab supplies and meet customer order demands.
  • Approve laboratory report templates and contribute to internal documentation for consistency and clarity.
  • Travel to client sites as needed to onboard new customers, perform validations, and assist with laboratory setup.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Toxicology, Clinical Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of hands-on laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong background in regulatory compliance and quality control within laboratory settings.
  • Experience in toxicology (prescription drug monitoring) or molecular biology (PCR/qPCR analysis) is a plus.
  • Proven track record of managing teams, with strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Position Benefits:
