Our mission is to advance the knowledge, growth and integrityof the air movement and control industry.The Laboratory Prep Technician is responsible for preparing samples for testing and assisting lab technicians with setting up and taking down of industrial fans, louvers and dampers. Functioning as a back-up in the shipping and receiving department. Must be able to research and resolve sample related issues in an efficient manner. Required to understand how the lab works and tasks involved within the lab.
  • Construction of plenum boards and ducts for testing of samples
  • Work with lab technicians to ensure samples are ready and available for the start of testing and in the correct location
  • Test setup - includes mounting, wiring and test chamber preparation
  • Post test cleanup - removal of sample from test chamber, moving sample to proper location and cleanup of equipment
  • Work with shipping to ensure all required paperwork related to the sample is in order and entered into the appropriate systems.
  • Maintain the sample storage areas
  • Develop inventory reports and lead the periodic inventories of the sample storage areas
  • Lead the research and resolution for any missing, lost, or damaged samples
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools in a safe manner
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and other programs as required
  • International shipping and receiving a plus
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • The work environment is typical of an industrial laboratory or warehouse
  • Physical demands include, but are not limited to, standing, reaching, stooping/bending, walking, and lifting/carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with operating a forklift or scissor lift strongly preferred
