The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as a laboratory scientist with the Division of Environmental Services at our Licking County laboratory.

In this role you'll conduct ultra-trace microbiological and chemical analysis of various compounds in surface, ground, waste, and drinking water as well as air, fish tissue, and soil sediments. You'll use sophisticated and sensitive lab equipment for analyses in accordance with CFR Title 40 regulations.
You'll prepare chemical reagents and standard solutions and perform extractions, concentrations, and clean-ups to prepare samples for analysis. We'll count on you to interpret analytical results, validate sampling methods, and perform quality control functions. You'll also maintain lab records, space, and equipment to ensure operating accuracy and efficiency.

* OR completion of Master of Science core program in a biological, chemical, natural or physical science.
* OR 12 mos. exp. as Laboratory Scientist 1, 83291.
* OR positions in Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections & Department of Health must meet 1 of 5 options: (1) Associate's degree in a medical technology from accredited college or university (2) Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification (3) Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology; 12 mos. pertinent laboratory experience or training in the specialty or subspecialty in which the individual will be assigned. (4) Education &/or training equivalent to 60 semester hours, or equivalent, that included 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; 18 mos. pertinent laboratory experience commensurate with job duties to be performed as outlined per approved position description on file. (5) Education &/or training equivalent to 60 semester hours, or equivalent, that included 24 semester hours of science that included-- 6 semester hours of chemistry; 6 semester hours of biology; and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination; 18 mos. documented laboratory exp. in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
