Location: Port Charlotte, FL

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Saturdays when coverage is needed)

Full-time: Benefit Eligible

In this role, you will:

* Perform tasks normally associated with supervision such as hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, directing and appraising the work of assigned staff

* Will be a working supervisor role in which the incumbent will also perform the work of those supervised

* This position has direct reports

* Hold regularly scheduled one on ones with direct reports on at least a monthly basis

* Is an advocate for direct reports regarding ensuring ideas are heard/shared and in their career progression planning and efforts

* Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, and maintain a clean and well-organized work area.

* Maintain proficiency and training requirements.

* Ensure compliance with all local, federal and CLIA regulations.

* Participate in inventory management, special projects and perform other duties as assigned by management.

* Assist in staff development and training.

* Assists the Lab Manager in the maintenance/upkeep of CLIA documentation and records (including supervising/verifying completion of daily records and tracking documents), and preparation for CAP and CLIA inspections.

* Communicate with pathologists regarding laboratory issues, client's needs, and respond quickly and efficiently to concerns/feedback regarding histology within the lab.

* Track and monitor laboratory quality indicators.

* Answer technical questions from pathologists and clients regarding lab processes and histology workflows.

All you need is:

* Possesses an Associate degree in Histology, Biology, Chemistry or other related field, a Bachelor degree is preferred; degree must satisfy the CLIA standards for Grossing Surgical Specimens (12 course hours of Biology and Chemistry combined)

* 5 or more years experience in the histology field

* Hold and maintain the HT or HTL (ASCP) certification.

* May accept additional education and/or experience in lieu of certification when certification is not a jurisdictional requirement for the job
