  • Perform surgeries on anesthetized rats and mice for research purposes.
  • Perform breeding colony maintenance, genotyping, blood and tissue collections.
  • Perform immunocytochemistry in rodent brain tissue.
  • Perform tear measurements and behavioral studies in rodents.
  • Oversee and train student researchers in basic laboratory techniques.
  • Perform dissections and collection of rodent brain tissue.
  • Perform histology in rodent brain tissue.
  • Perform microscopy and analysis of histological images.
  • Prepare reagents and standards; order supplies and equipment and reagents.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure the laboratory is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Read and discuss original research papers.
  • Learn new techniques as needed.
Qualifications
  • BS in Biology, Neuroscience, or related field required, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in rodent research.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks without supervision.
  • Detail-oriented and careful in handling tasks.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and approach new challenges with enthusiasm.
  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential.
