Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Veterinary Products)

Location: Millsboro, DE

Job Type: Full-Time, 1-Year Assignment

Shift: Flexible (including overtime, weekends, and potential rotating shifts)

Payrate: $20-22/HR

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team in the production of veterinary products. This role requires working with technical equipment and assisting in critical laboratory processes, including cell culture and aseptic procedures. The successful candidate will work under moderate supervision and will ensure that all tasks comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). This is a dynamic role that involves working in a highly regulated, aseptic clean room production environment, and may require flexible scheduling to meet the demands of the manufacturing process.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma/GED with 2-3 years of laboratory experience, or a Bachelors degree in a science-related field (recent graduates welcome).

Experience:

Prior experience in a regulated industry.

Experience working in an aseptic clean room production environment.

Previous lab/manufacturing facility experience preferred.

Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (stir plates, pipettes, cylinders).

Preferred: Familiarity with hatchery work, including egg harvesting equipment, egg candling, and inoculating chicken eggs.

Skills:

Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and conversions.

Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.

Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by the production schedule.

Responsibilities:

As a Laboratory Technician, you will assist with laboratory procedures essential to the production of veterinary products, including cell culture processes and other technical duties throughout the manufacturing cycle. Some key responsibilities include:

Primary Responsibilities (90% of the time):

Clean and maintain work areas (floors, walls, tables, etc.).

Prepare, clean, and sterilize glassware and equipment.

Assist with equipment setup and operation.

Perform aseptic procedures including media preparation, antigen inoculation and harvest, tissue culture preparation, and embryo harvest.

Fill vaccines, manage incubation, and weigh materials.

Maintain accurate records, including charts, logbooks, and other documentation.

Demonstrate safe work habits and maintain a safe work environment.

Fill, label, cap, package, and visually inspect products.

Secondary Responsibilities (10% of the time):

Assist with training new team members.

Report any unusual or non-routine occurrences.

Manage hazardous waste, including accumulation, labeling, and disposal (with proper training).

Assist with non-aseptic tasks such as handling poultry during tissue harvesting or waste processing.

Review and contribute to the development of SOPs and production records.

Enter technical data into required systems.

Attend training and workshops to improve skills.

Monitor and requisition lab supplies.
