We offer comprehensive benefits packages to eligible employees, including competitive pay, medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, and additional performance incentives.Pay Range: $19 / hourPosition SummaryPerforms a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, utilizing hand and power tools and other equipment.Primary/Essential Responsibilities and DutiesResponsible for driving crew members to and from the job site.Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.Measures, marks, and records openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performedControls traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.Removes and replaces track and track components (e. g. ties, rails, bars, etc.)Cuts rails to specific lengthsDrills holes through rails for insertion of bolts, and tightens or loosens bolts at joints that hold ends or rails togetherRaises rails to allow for tie removal and replacementRemoves and replaces ballastSlides and aligns tie platesCorrects deviations in track surface, alignment, and gaugeObserves condition of tracks, track beds, and track right of way to detect and report problems or defectsDigs holes and trenches.Sorts track material for loading and unloading and assists operators with signaling equipment.Complies with all company and railroad safety rules, practices and regulations.Required Skills and QualificationsMust be able to pass a DOT physical.A minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant construction experienceTWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).18 years or olderAbility to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulationsPhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsValid Driver's license with a good driving record.Must be able to pass a DOT physical.Reliable transportation, and available to travel.Works outdoors at construction sitesPerforms physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling of materials, equipment, and toolsUses hands and fingers to grasp, manipulate, and/or assemble objects and toolsLifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery, and tools up to 50 poundsExposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weatherExposed to loud noiseMay be exposed to live track/trains and high voltageMust wear appropriate safety equipment, such as safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection, as required by the company.RailWorks is North America's leading track and transit system experts for over 100 years and with 45 offices across the U.S. and Canada.
