This position shall at times be responsible for scheduling and completing maintenance tasks in a timely fashion. The employee shall be responsible to ensure maintenance duties are completed in a safest manner with quality. The position works under the direction of the foreperson, but can receive direction form the Superintendent or Department Director.
- Performs roads and bridge maintenance;
- Operate equipment, have basic carpentry, masonry experience, knowledge of PennDot publications regarding work zone traffic control;
- The work involves heavy physical exertion;
- This position is subject to emergency call outs on off hours and or weekends. This person is expected to be available for emergency callouts;
- Required to operate county vehicles including pickup trucks to backhoes therefore a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Drivers License (CDL) class A or B is required;
- Is in contact with Crew Chief, Foreman and Administrator;
- Determines which type of sign is needed or desired;
- Determine from the sign manual which materials are needed and gather them together;
- Essential personnel/ On-Call;
- Snow/ Ice Removal (operating plows).

- High School Diploma equivalent;.
- Ability to read architectural/ design plans.

- Shoveling raking, lifting of rocks, dirt, asphalt and stone in excess of 50 lbs. for 50% of the day;
- Flagging (standing) 20% of the day. May exceed 20% depending on project;

- Ability to shovel and withstand heavy lifting;
- Ability to use backhoe, air compressors, and jack hammer;
- Ability to climb, bend, squat, stoop & kneel for various amounts of time during an 8 hour day;
- Ability to handle all Safety Equipment;
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands or arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
