Join us and become part of a dynamic and innovative work environment! We are currently seeking a Laborer to perform general shipboard maintenance operations at our Pearl Harbor site. What You'll Be Doing:
- Performing general shipboard maintenance, including cleaning piers, vessel decks, hulls, compartments, engine rooms, bilges, voids, and tanks.
- Preparing surfaces for preservation by using chipping hammers, scaling tools, hand scrapers, and power equipment.
- Applying preservation materials, such as paint, and sealing compounds using brushes, rollers, and caulking tools.
- Operating and connecting sump pumps, air-driven pumps, and discharge hoses to pump tanks and bilges.
- Assisting other trades such as Mechanical and Electrical, as well as rigging and attaching hoisting and pulling gear.
- Acting as Fire Watch during hot work evolutions.
- Serving as part of a riding crew to receive or cast off vessels or craft at the facility.
- Escorting visitors, including museum groups, military personnel, subcontractors, and government representatives.
- Following company safety procedures, corporate core values, and maintaining a professional and collaborative work environment.
What You'll Need to Succeed: Shall be able to read, follow written and verbal directions. Shall have physical strength and stamina required to resist the vibrations of pneumatic tools which operate on 90 pounds of compressed air pressure; be able to walk, stand, climb, turn, crouch, kneel, stoop, enter tanks, voids and bilges, and climb ladders in performance of the work; and handle weights up to 100 pounds, average of 50 pounds. May be exposed to high and low elevations, heavy objects, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, combustible and hazardous materials. Minimum:
- One year of general work experience, with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Qualified to wear a respirator.
- Ability to demonstrate proper connection and operation of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment used in ship maintenance and preservation.
- May be required to qualify as a Fire Watch and/or High Reach operator.
Preferred:
- One year of maritime labor experience is preferred.
