The Recreation Laborer is responsible for maintaining the baseball fields during the summer (from May to September) and changing the trash in the park's garbage cans on the weekend all year round. This role involves light to medium physical effort and is often performed under adverse weather conditions.The Parks and Recreation Laborer is responsible for making sure all fields are maintained and prepared for all games that may be held on all softball fields and baseball fields. The Laborer will be required to work alone mostly; however, this position may work with members within the Service Department, depending on the tasks given.The Laborer will inform the Recreation Director and/or Service Director of anything regarding the softball and baseball fields and/or any related job duties. Any cleaning supplies, tools, equipment, or materials needed shall be communicated to the Recreation Director.Core Tasks: Manage all field prep: fertilization (if needed), edging, mound and plate prep, warning track maintenance, and infield playing surface maintenance.Learn and operate the baseball field machinery called the A.B.I. Laser Grading Machine for our ball fields.Chalking the field(s).Operate and maintain all equipment safely and keep in excellent working condition.Facilitate the infield tarp while monitoring weather conditions to ensure playability and player safety.Empty trash cans in the community park(s) during the weekend.Assist with the food pantry every third Thursday of each month.After the summer season, assist with recreation events such as set up and clean up.Assist with cleaning the community center when needed. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/G.E.D.Two years' work experience in baseball field maintenance.Basic knowledge of tools and equipment to properly maintain softball/baseball fields.Basic cleaning knowledge.One year of customer service is a plus, but it is optional!Successful pre-employment background check and drug screen. Physical Demands: Ability to lift a max of 40 lbs.Walks and stands for long periods and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at work sites.The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
