As a team, Saia is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the safety and vibrancy of the communities we serve.Job SummaryAs an apprentice-Laborer, Saia will train this Tower Tech. You will be responsible for working at heights, cleaning, and preparing job sites for Communications tower work. The Laborer/Tower Tech will load and unload materials if required, dig holes and trenches, mix and pour concrete, backfill holes trenches, and perform other job site duties as the site Senior Foreman directs. The Laborer/Tower Tech will report directly to the Senior Foreman. The Laborer/Tower Tech will follow the Project Manager's or Operations Manager's directions. While performing the duties of Laborer/Tower Tech, the employee regularly works outside in various weather conditions. The employee works near moving mechanical parts and can be exposed to wet or hot conditions. The employee apprentice will occasionally work at heights up to 300' plus with proper OSHA climbing equipment. The noise level in the work environment may be moderate to loud. While performing the duties of Laborer/Tower Tech, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and to reach with hands and arms. The Foreman must frequently stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, balance, talk, and hear. The employee must also drive, sit, climb, crawl, etc. Saia will teach this apprentice the skills necessary to become a certified Tower climber.Primary ResponsibilitiesInterfacing with our customers and being a Saia/Motorola brand ambassador.Follow our Opportunity to Close Out Process and others as required.Troubleshoot, maintain and repair associated antennas, cables, connectors and tower hardware .Test, analyze, diagnose, and repair antenna lines and antennas.Run RF cabling, antenna lines, and CAT5/6 Cabling as needed.Cut, splice, and terminate wiring with correct endpoints and hardware as needed.Operate a spectrum analyzer and use results to diagnose system issues.Stage and install RF microwave point-to-point systems.Rack and build RF systems per engineering documents and best practices.Respond to customer emergency service calls after hours during on-call shift rotation.Properly install combiners, four post and two post server racks, and outdoor and indoor server cabinets.Troubleshoot and install voters, GPS boards, power amplifiers, cooling fans, etc.Learn and understand AC/DC voltage and power systems.Learn to install power supplies, distribution panels, backup power systems, and batteries.Operate a Service Monitor, TIMS set, and a multimeter to diagnose and repair RF systems.Test for signal strength and evaluate BDA needs.Installed and maintain BDA systems, DAS, and in-building PA station alerting.Maintain all company-issued tools and equipment and ensure serviceability.Maintain company-issued vehicle and ensure it is serviced at regular intervals.Work closely with the Senior Foreman, Service Coordinator and Project Manager to ensure timely completion of work.Assist the Service Coordinator with customer and job information as needed.Work with RF engineer on site walks and scope out potential work for quote development.Work with the RF engineer to develop the scope of work.Assist other technicians with on-site installation and remote support.Report to the job site on time with all necessary tools, parts, and equipment.Requirements and QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDNo experience is required, but a willingness to learn as an apprentice that Saia will train and ultimately become a certified climber.Saia will consider any certifications such as OSHA, R56, Motorola, Kenwood, Harris, and training diplomas.Related military experience in the field will be taken into account for this position.Working ConditionsAbility to work business hours M-F 8 am to 4:30 pmReporting to customer locations all over Western & Central New York, dispatched from Saia Buffalo home office locationIssued a company service vehicle.Willing to travel to the Buffalo, NY office as directed for trainingWork RemotelyNoJob Type:Full-TimePay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour401(k) matchingHealth insurancePaid time offSchedule: Monday through FridayLicense/Certification: New York State Driver's License (Preferred)Work Location: Multiple Locations (Tower Sites)Saia Communications, Inc. is the leading communications company in Western and Central New York and the largest Motorola Solutions Radio Solutions Channel Partner in the Buffalo area.Sign up to the Saia newsletter and be the first to know about the latest wireless news, promotions, and events.#J-18808-Ljbffr
