Job Description:
Position Summary: Performs the task of handling enamels and portables in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the appropriate enamel supply is provided to all insulating equipment. Conducts walk-throughs and audits to monitor adherence to the plant waste management procedures and the Hazard Communications Program. Maintains all skill levels and training requirements for position including all RCRA and DOT rules and regulations. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct first hour walk through to check all portable levels.
  • Perform enamel conversions, as necessary, pumping out old enamel, possible addition of flushes, adding new enamels, and other required duties.
  • Complete portable filter changes per bi-weekly schedule.
  • Prepare portables for enamel tanker samples.
  • Support disposition of hazardous material and ensure proper procedures are being followed.
  • Maintain RCRA sites including labeling of barrels, cleanliness and organization.
  • Complete portable area filter cards.
  • Cut, drain and crush empty barrels. Dispose of barrels in steel scrap bin.
  • Maintain all PEG stations.
  • Keep portables in working condition and control and clean up any spills.
  • Communicate maintenance issues/items to group leader or supervisor to ensure work orders are written.
  • Maintain communication between shifts to ensure safe and accurate operations regarding enamels occur.
  • Active member of the Emergency Response Team. (ERT)
  • All other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Physical Demand and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the manufacturing site including high temperatures. The noise level in the work environment may be loud. The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.     • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing stairs, reach above and below chest level, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with arms. This position works at various levels. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds and may be exposed to chemical, non-toxic fumes or dust. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Work Environment: The employee will occasionally be exposed to Cold Temperatures 100 degrees. The environment is well lit; The noise level in the environment is loud due to exposure and use of fork trucks, but employee may be exposed to higher than 85 decibels on occasion, hearing protection is required. Employee may be occasionally required to enter confined spaces.
    Qualifications Required:
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Trained in RCRA and DOT regulations related to position
    • Thorough knowledge of enamel locations and types
    • Proficient with procedures regarding cleaning and flushing portables.
    • Understanding of plant hazardous waste program and procedures and follow all rules, regulations and policies related to the program.
    • Fork-lift certified
