Description Land Agent Remote with travel supporting Central to South Florida

Your role in our success:

Land Agents are the public facing (business) side of the Chesapeake Utilities team. They interact and negotiate directly with landowners to acquire gas right-of-way easements, staging and storage agreements for construction, and property acquisition negotiations for large scale projects.

What you'll be working on:

  • Obtains deeds, easements, and assignments necessary for procuring land needed for utility lines, pipelines, or other construction projects.
  • Secures right-of-way for road improvements through warranty deed, dedication, permanent, or temporary easement. Researches title records to determine property ownership and other relevant information
  • Consults with property owners and conducts negotiations for securing deeds, easements, permits, options, agreements, outright purchase of property, or settlement of damage claims.
  • Negotiates with landowners to obtain right-of-way agreements.
  • Prepare land for pipeline installation and ensure compliance with governmental regulation.
  • Prepare Rights of Way, Meter Site Agreements, Compressor Agreements and Regulator Site Agreements for new Chesapeake Utilities projects.
  • Prepare Rights of Way and Meter Site Agreements for customers requesting a tap from Consumers Gas Cooperative.
  • Research existing Rights of Way when pipelines are to be repaired or replaced for any inconsistencies or problems that may arise.
  • Speak with Attorneys, Real Estate Agents, USDA agents, Railroad agents and prospective landowners regarding the pipeline and rights of way on properties

Who you are:

  • Minimum of Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in land management, business, leadership or related field preferred
  • Three to five years of relevant experience
  • General computer skills.
  • Must demonstrate sound communication, business judgment, decision making skills and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to adhere to company and industry standards, safety rules, regulations, procedures, policies and manuals.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Registered or Certified Professional Landman preferred, but not required
  • Self-starter, Ability to work independently as well as in a diverse work group/environment.
