IntroductionThe Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hiring a Land Agent (Real Estate Specialist-Senior) in the Division of Internal Services, Bureau of Facilities and Lands. This position would be headquartered in the DNR Service Center in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Remote work may be available for a portion of the work week, after the initial onboarding period. Position SummaryThis position is responsible for planning and directing real estate program activities in a geographic portion of a district and for performing professional real estate work including appraising, negotiations, access abandonment, relocation, real estate services to local units of government and nonprofit organizations for grant purposes, and to the general public, federal government entities, and tribes on state owned lands. This position is also responsible for coordinating all real estate matters within the assigned geographic area, performing real estate management activities, assisting the grant program and carrying out, directing, and monitoring program policies and procedures. Salary InformationStarting pay for this position is between $29.00 to $33.50 per hour (or $60,320 to $69,680 annually), in addition to excellent benefits. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. This position is included in the classification Real Estate Specialist-Senior within pay schedule/range 07-03. A 12-month probationary period may be required. QualificationsPlease make sure to address and describe EACH of the following qualifications applicable to your experience within your resume and/or letter of qualifications to be considered for this position: Required qualifications include experience with the following:
  • Drafting legal real estate documents and contracts (e.g., offers to purchase, sale agreements, easements and land use agreements, etc.)
  • Landowner contact and negotiation techniques and procedures
  • Working with computer programs (i.e., databases, spreadsheets, word processing software, etc.)
Preferred qualifications include any of the following criteria:
  • Experience with GIS mapping applications including ability to read soil maps, topography maps, FEMA, and/or wetland maps to make purchase decisions
  • Experience with Wisconsin Real Estate Law such as researching statutes, administrative code, WI contract law, etc.
  • Training in or understanding of appraisal concepts, and/or has written appraisals
