Job Purpose/Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Land Records Mapping Technician within our Land Records group based in Houston, Texas. The Land Records Mapping Technician will electronically create and maintain maps, geographical information system (GIS) layers, electronic data, and geographic computer files by interpreting geographic or legal source data using GIS tools and perform related work as required.

Job Responsibilities:
Generate, revise and update maps to assist Land Department using ArcMap and Google Earth.
Map legal descriptions in right of way, surface lease, deeds and other land agreements in ArcGIS using protocols.
Review alignment maps to identify different pipeline systems and associated surface ownership. Identify any missing legal support documentation for each pipeline system and create a curative list.
Ability to plot metes and bounds descriptions of real property and read a variety of maps such as surveys in electronic and paper form.
Ability to prepare maps, KMZ's, SHP files, Geodatabase, etc. using ArcGIS and Google Earth.
Ability to review legal descriptions, surveys and check for accuracy.
Incorporate 3rd party data, as needed, into company databases for mapping purposes.
Matching archived maps from SharePoint to database records as well as GIS.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and willing to learn other computer applications.
Excellent computer technology skills with all aspects of various mapping software, particularly ArcGIS, Google Earth, and Deed Plotter Software.
Understanding of mapping systems and cartography and database management systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal.
Ability to work under deadlines and on multiple projects.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Must be goal oriented, approaching projects with a sense of urgency and drive.
Must be a team player who possesses the ability to adapt to new technologies, workflows and processes.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
An associate degree or related specialized/technical training is preferred.
2+ years of related experience in land records mapping (preferably in an oil or gas) required.
Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
