Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Land Surveyor in Training for the Charlotte, NC office. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail-oriented individual interested in joining our Land Surveying department. Applicant must be able to work in a team environment as a key member of a professional surveying staff coordinating field and office work on complex survey engagements, directly supervise technicians and participate in personnel actions involving office staff. In addition, assist in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, platting, right-of way acquisition, transmission line, transportation, and construction surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the survey project manager with all aspects of the daily office workload.
  • Seek growth opportunities and report to Dewberry management.
  • Directly supervise technicians and participate in personnel actions involving support staff.
  • Review job specifications and develop budget proposal for methods and costs.
  • Assign tasks to necessary staff.
  • Plan and coordinate aspects of work and reviews work created by less experience employees.
  • Receive administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
  • Communicate with the field coordinator with daily workload and needs to meet the schedule.
  • Scheduling and communicating workload status to Project Manager in order to meet all deadlines.
  • Daily uploading and downloading of data collectors and reduction of files.
  • Survey computations for boundary and topographic surveys and construction stakeout.
  • Drafting of Boundary, ALTA, topographic, house location surveys and record plats.
  • Management and drafting of Route and Design surveys for NCDOT
  • Continually advance knowledge with upgrades with software and technology.
  • Work independently as a one person field crew or assist field crew as required.
  • Recognize and work in a safe manner to comply with all safety regulations.
Required Skills & Required Experience:
  • College degree preferred.
  • Must have High School Diploma.
  • Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of survey experience, LSIT preferred.
  • Experience with NCDOT design surveys is required.
  • Experience with NCDOT Right of Way surveys is required.
  • Experience with NCDOT Property Survey Division Exhibits is preferred.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation V8i is required.
  • Proficiency with Geopak V8i is required
  • Proficiency with Open Roads Designer is preferred.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong drafting and computing skills.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing and able to do short term travel.
  • Must be proficient with land record research.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have diverse survey experience including: Boundary surveys, topographic surveys, GPS control surveys, route surveys, NCDOT design surveys, construction stakeout for residential and commercial projects and cutsheets.
  • Must have a valid drivers license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
  • Must pass a mandatory drug test.
  • Proficient with Carlson Survey, Carlson SurvCE, Pix4D, and Trimble Business Center software is a plus.
  • Experience with laser scanning is a plus.
  • Experience with 3D survey drawings a plus.
  • Experience with Civil 3D a plus.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance is a plus.
