Weyerhaeuser is searching for a Land Use Forester to join our team in the Arkansas/Oklahoma Region! This is a full time, exempt position that will report to the Planning and Inventory Manager and is a part of Southern Timberlands Business. The successful candidate must be willing to live within a 60-minute commute of the De Queen or Broken Bow offices.
Key Functions As a Land Use Forester, you will perform land use activities across approximately 1,038,000 acres of land in the region encompassing Arkansas and Oklahoma. Your primary responsibilities include working with neighboring landowners, handling access/right-of-way requests and issues, boundary line maintenance and discrepancies, small land acquisitions and sales, timber appraisal, issuing and monitoring road use permits, and document requests. You will work closely with utility companies, county and state Department of Transportation, and corporate land title and legal departments.
Qualifications - Bachelors degree (or higher) in Finance, Legal Studies, Forestry or related field OR equivalent combination of related work experience and education
- At least 6 years of related experience; 10 or more years of related experience is preferred
- Strong analytical skills and thorough understanding of forest economics
- Strong negotiating and contract administration skills
- Knowledge of practical application of forestry Best Management Practices (BMP's)
- Experience with Forest inventory/GIS systems and willingness to learn and use Weyerhaeuser's inventory system (FMS)
- Proficient in use of computer software (i.e., Excel)
- Willingness to abide by established safety standards
- Demonstrated leadership and people skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to be assertive and represent Weyerhaeuser's interest in a positive manner
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Problem solving skills, with the ability to manage and resolve conflict in a positive way
- Good teaming skills including the ability and willingness to work in a diverse team environment
- Ability to accurately and precisely document field observations
- Exhibit a commitment to safety and risk management, serving as a role model for safety practices
What We Offer Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $79,330-$118,995 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.
Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
