Our client is a prestigious law firm specializing in landlord-tenant law, and is seeking a dedicated and experienced Housing Court Litigation Attorney to join our team in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate law with a particular focus on litigation in the Housing Court, representing landlords and property managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Litigation: Represent clients in Housing Court, including preparation and filing of motions, pleadings, and legal documents related to landlord-tenant disputes.
  • Client Representation: Provide legal counsel and representation to landlords, property managers, and real estate owners in matters such as evictions, non-payment proceedings, holdover proceedings, and lease enforcement.
  • Case Management: Manage a caseload of Housing Court matters from inception through resolution, including negotiation of settlements, trial preparation, and appearances in court.
  • Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research on landlord-tenant laws, rent stabilization regulations, and other relevant statutes to support case strategy and client advisement.
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on case status, legal advice, and potential outcomes, ensuring that clients are fully informed and their interests are protected.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure the efficient handling of cases and the delivery of high-quality legal services.
  • Compliance: Stay informed of changes in housing laws and regulations in New York City and State, ensuring compliance and advising clients accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • 1+ years of experience in housing court litigation, landlord-tenant law, or related areas of real estate law.
