Summary of Position:
The Landman IV handles relatively complex land assignments. This position provides research and analytical support to land staff and company personnel. This level is viewed as a qualified, fully competent Land professional able to carry out projects independently and will assist lower-level Staff Landman with standard and routine land tasks.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
* Maintain and oversee area of responsibility within asset including but not limited to the following: planning, preparation, and execute DSU projects for annual drilling inventory, handle non-operated drilling and workover proposals, maintain lease obligations and rentals.
* Work surface/mineral related needs for annual drilling inventory and handle company owned surface/mineral activity.
* Prepare hearing exhibits and testify as an expert witness in front of the NMOCD or TXRRC.
* Assists and/or leads difficult planning and regulatory interactions.
* Assists and/or leads challenging and/or non-standard well proposals and joint operating agreements, as well as, challenging title, negotiation, contracts and curative issues as necessary.
* Resolves difficult and/or challenging or non-standard questions, requests, and issues that may arise from all disciplines.
* Assigned complicated or non-standard working interest ownership rights including payouts and other obligations.
* Assists, leads and is assigned various difficult or non-standard curative land contracts, legal instruments and State/Federal forms required for government regulatory compliance.
* Assists, leads and is assigned difficult or non-standard interactions with working interest ownership towards timely resolution of questions and disputes and owner participation.
* Interacts with other Senior Land Advisors, Land Managers and Business Unit Leads for project selection and execution with decision making authority.
* Reviews and approves standard and complicated title for drilling.
* Acts as cross discipline subject matter expert in all title matters.
* Mentors lower level Staff Landmen
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
* In-depth understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to land and mineral rights in the oil & gas industry.
* Proficiency in conducting comprehensive title examinations to determine ownership and encumbrances on properties.
* Negotiation skills for securing favorable terms in lease agreements and other land-related contracts.
* Strong organizational and time management skills, enabling efficient planning and execution of work to meet established deadlines.
* Meticulous attention to detail, consistently ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks and deliverables.
* Takes ownership of projects and responsibilities, displaying a high level of accountability and initiative.
* Ability to work efficiently independently as well as effectively within a team environment.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate ideas clearly and effectively in a variety of settings and with diverse audiences.
* Exemplary interpersonal and written communication skills, underpinned by exceptional organizational prowess, a consultative approach, meticulous recordkeeping, keen analytical acumen, and adept problem-solving abilities.
* Proficiency in relationship building, encompassing effective engagement with land, drilling, and production operations teams, collaboration with state and federal agencies, and fostering positive interactions with mineral and landowners.
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Land Management or related field.
* Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience as a practicing in-house Landman in the oil and gas industry required.
* Permian Basin experience required.
Travel & Additional Requirements:
* Work Location: Work is performed at a CIVI location Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays as business needs allow and with manager approval.
* Schedule: Traditional 40-hour workweek or an alternative schedule of 9-hour workdays Monday through Thursday and 4-hour workdays on Friday, as business needs allow and with manager approval.
* Travel required to the Civitas field locations.

Base Pay Range: $154,000 - $175,000
