Overview: Seeking an experienced Mid-Level Landscaping Estimator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing costs and preparing competitive bids and contracts for all aspects of Summerhill's operations. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction estimating, ideally in landscaping, along with excellent negotiation and project management skills.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze construction project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for landscaping projects.
- Create construction budgets that detail total costs for approved landscape jobs prior to their commencement.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
- Utilize software programs to create detailed estimates.
- Prepare and submit bid proposals to clients, ensuring all required documentation is included in a timely manner.
- Negotiate pricing and contract terms with clients and subcontractors.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and adjust estimates as necessary.
- Oversee yearly contract revision and renewal process for maintenance operations
- Develop new maintenance contracts in concert with construction projects and for new leads.
- Work closely with the project management team to ensure projects stay within budget.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction and landscaping estimating principles and techniques.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of project management principles.
- Ability to analyze project plans, specifications, and other technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in estimating costs.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Familiarity with cost control methods in landscaping projects.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an estimator in the landscaping or construction industry. (min 3 - 5 years)
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Ability to commute and work onsite fulltime in our NYC, Westchester, Westhampton or Sag Harbor office
