JOB SUMMARY:

Provides and oversees the Landscape Maintenance for the Madren Center, Martin Inn and Alumni & Visitors Center.

JOB DUTIES:

45% - Essential - Scheduling and Grounds Keeping Management: Schedules and performs grounds-keeping activities for a particular outlined area of campus. Prioritize the use of assigned equipment to ensure the most efficient and productive use. Inspect entire assigned area weekly to ensure it is aesthetically pleasing and to help prioritize weekly work schedule. Reads, understands, and implements landscape plans on site. Implement weather related campus clearing and cleanup plans whenever necessary.

15% - Essential - Record Keeping Supply Ordering and Equipment Maintenance: Maintains records of labor hours, materials, and equipment. Ensures daily time card reflects where work was performed. Orders supplies and makes recommendations for equipment needs and purchases. Ensure weekly preventative maintenance is performed on all assigned landscape maintenance equipment.

15% - Essential - Pest Management: Identifies insect and disease problems on all types of plant material and takes corrective action. Assists in special projects such as plant surveys or product tests. Assists in conducting Integrated Pest Management Program. Directs handling and application of herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides.

15% - Essential - Event Related Activities: Prepare outdoor spaces for scheduled events. Ensure patios, sidewalks and pavilion is clear of litter and debris before and after scheduled events.

10% - Essential - Monitor irrigation systems to ensure adequate moisture levels for various plant materails.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent and custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment.

Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Licenses - SC Private Applicator License

Work Experience: 3+ years

Acts as Lead - Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday thru Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm with occasional callbacks during inclement weather. Standard Hours: 40

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range: ($ 36,000.00 - $ 38,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Essential Level 1 employee

Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
