DescriptionLandscaping team members shall be willing to adhere to, encourage, and inspire Cadets to embrace the Academy's mission and core values. Cadet safety and quality of environment is our top priority. Our landscaping staff is a crucial part of how the Academy is presented.
Essential Job Functions
Supervisory Responsibilities: None unless deemed a team leader. Team leaders may assist with administrative support as deemed necessary.
Duties/Responsibilities: Maintain a pristine appearance of campus property. Cut, trim and blow all grass on campus and around faculty housing. Pick up leaves, trash and debris on campus property and roadways. Maintain flowers beds, weeding, mulching and planting. Trim shrubs/trees and picking up fall branches/sticks. Pick up and compact trash from campus and faculty housing. Assist with set up and break down of tents, tables and chairs for special events. Maintain a clean, safe and secure landscape shop and perform other duties as needed.
Seasonal Duties: On call for snow removal. Clean and maintain landscaping and snow removal equipment. Remove snow/ice and salt all sidewalks, roads and parking lots. Seasonal cleaning floors of salt residue left over from ice/melt snow. Off season cleaning projects including deep cleaning as assigned and deemed necessary.
Required Skills/Abilities Expected hours of work are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM Monday-Friday Hours of work may be conditionally flexible during seasonal events, or as directed by weather or the Academy's needs Must be available to assist with set up and break down of tents, tables, and chairs for special events and graduation Must have knowledge of landscaping best practices Must be able to communicate verbally with managers and supervisors Must successfully pass a background check and participate in random drug testing
Education and Experience: Prior landscaping or grounds experience preferred and a military background is favorable but not required.
Physical Requirements Ability to climb up to three flights of stairs as necessary Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 80 pounds as needed Ability to sit, stand, twist, kneel, or squat as needed. Ability to raise arms over head to perform duties Ability to perform work outdoors; withstand inclement weather and other environmental conditions Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, or working on a project as deemed necessary
