Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Under limited supervision, this position performs landscape duties across all MPW facilities. Employees in this classification will perform skilled and semi-skilled duties. Position reports to the Facility Supervisor.

* Performs cutting, trimming, edging, blowing off hard surfaces, etc., to ensure the professional appearance of grounds.

* Performs dirt work/grading, planting, tree trimming, stormwater pond maintenance, fence line clearing at various properties, fence repair, storm cleanup, etc.

* Maintains and supports efforts towards landscape sustainability and ecological benefit including plant selection, expanding native habitats & pollinator landscapes, maintaining natural pond buffers, etc.

* Uses integrated pest management practices and nutrient management techniques to maintain a healthy landscape.

* Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on tools and equipment used, including small engine repair.

* Operates heavy equipment to include all mowers, small engines equip., excavator, front end loader, backhoe, skid steer, asphalt roller, man lift, etc.

* Installs and maintains plants in indoor environments.

* Helps with facility duties as needed, particularly in the off-season (examples include parts/materials runner, meeting room setup, carpentry projects/remodels, event preparation and cleanup, etc.

* Procures and purchases supplies and materials as instructed by the Facility Supervisor.

* Receives, prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, work orders and forwards/retains as appropriate.

* Communicates with supervisors, employees, other departments, customers, engineers, maintenance coordinators, inspectors, contractors (including mulching, major tree work, pond maintenance, pesticide/herbicide/fertilizer application, etc.,) and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review the status of work, exchange information, and resolve problems.

* Serves on-call for emergency response (as needed).

* Creates and completes work orders in the CMMS describing work completed, manpower utilized, materials, and equipment and establishes follow-up work orders as needed.

* Maintains the parts washer, overhead crane and hydraulic press within safety standards.

* Performs basic welding and fabrication duties, including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

* Utilizes and reads specialty tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, pyrometers, torque wrenches, multimeters, and megohmmeters).

* Troubleshoot pumps and pump station appurtenances in the field as necessary.

* Orders parts and supplies as needed.

* Maintains all Pump Shop tools in safe working condition and keeps shop area neat and clean.

* Administrative duties include preparing or completing various forms, reports, letters, e-mails, timesheets, inspections, etc.

* Assists with Fleet duties and other related duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

* High school diploma or GED supplemented by one (1) to two (2) years previous experience and/or vocational/technical training in landscape maintenance or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

* Must possess or obtain a pesticide certification.

* Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License.

* Must possess and maintain a South Carolina Commercial Driver's License - Class B (within one year of hire date.)

* Tasks involve regular and sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that generally involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials. Lifting generally involves objects and materials up to 50 pounds.

SALARY RANGE

$40,129 - $62,2001
