Job Description: LCHM Executive DirectorTitle: Executive DirectorBenefits: Annual leave, sick leave, health care, travel reimbursementAbout the Lane County History Museum:The Lane County History Museum was founded in 1951, specifically to preserve and interpret the history of the pioneer generation. Over time, our mission expanded to include the diverse histories of all Lane County residents. We meet our mission by sharing our extensive object, archive, and photograph collections, creating compelling museum exhibits, hosting history pubs and other educational programs, and assisting individuals in understanding Lane County's past through publications, academic talks, digital access to collections, and archival research.We are excited to launch our search for a new Executive Director who can help grow our institution, engage our community, and help us envision a dynamic future for our museum. Recently, our initiatives have focused on creating inclusive and accessible museum experiences while also finding new ways to share history throughout the county. The incoming Executive Director will be able to build on a solid foundation of programming and community involvement and play a significant role in strengthening a cornerstone institution of state and regional history. This is a unique opportunity for an energetic and enthusiastic leader to dig in and make their mark.Education:Bachelor's Degree required; master's degree preferred. The combination of education and experience is also acceptable. Experience in nonprofit management, arts and culture administration, education, museum studies, or related fields will be considered an asset.Desired Experience:A minimum of 7 -10 years professional experience (nonprofit preferred)History of managing budget and facilities operating costsProven experience building teams and managing employeesExperience working with nonprofit boards a plusFoundation relationships and grant writing experience requiredExperience working in an arts/cultural setting preferred, but not requiredMain Responsibilities:General Management:Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of staff and volunteers.Maintain a functioning and supportive team environment with growth opportunities as appropriate.Fulfill human resources responsibilities across the organization in conjunction with Board as appropriate.Demonstrate organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.Prioritize, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.Maintain security for the organization's facility, grounds, and collection.Monitor and maintain the condition of buildings and grounds in collaboration with Lane County departments.Schedule staff and volunteers to ensure the Museum is open during scheduled hours.Community Engagement:Internal and External Communication: Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.Experience communicating directly and frequently with staff, donors, board members, volunteers, and other constituents.Liaison between the organization and the public (i.e., involvement in the Chambers of Commerce, community businesses, county and city government, and other non-profit and community-based organizations).Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.Must possess an Oregon Driver's license and be able to connect with museums and historical organizations throughout Lane County.Administrative and Financial Responsibilities:Implement all LCHM adopted plans and board policies.Attend Executive Committee and Board meetings.Assist in planning Board meeting agendas and report on the organization's business and activities.Work with the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee to develop and present an annual operating budget to the Board of Directors.Administer approved budget with direction from the Board of Directors as needed.To apply:Please email PDFs of your resume, cover letter, and contact information for three references to ...@lchm.org .(Please note, we will not contact your references without your permission.)Your application should include three references.The Museum provides an equal employment opportunity to all persons without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/transgender status, age, disability, veteran or marital status, genetic information or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.#J-18808-Ljbffr
