The Laser Diode Opto-Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing mechanical components using SolidWorks and 3D CAD tools, while collaborating with engineers to create automated test platforms for laser diode characterization. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work across multiple departments to support product development, testing, and manufacturing processes.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Use SolidWorks to design mechanical components and hardware, translating solutions into detailed layout, fabrication, and assembly drawings for production.
  • Develop detailed assembly and fabrication specifications, along with documentation, for all product designs.
  • Conceptualize and design the layout and mechanical components using 3D CAD tools to support Product Design Engineering.
  • Create visual aids to assist with the assembly of manufactured products.
  • Work independently on small projects or collaborate as part of a team on larger projects.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the top system level CAD model.
  • Collaborate with test engineers to design tooling and fixturing for automated test platforms, enabling characterization of Laser Diodes at the wafer and chip scale.
  • Provide troubleshooting and repair support, including the development of new integration equipment for production as needed by the manufacturing team.
  • Assist in supplying test data for responding to Government/R&D solicitations related to new GaN-based Laser Diode opportunities.
  • Support the creation of technical datasheets, manuals, proposals, and analysis to assist the sales and marketing teams.
  • Contribute to the development of integration equipment and testing methodologies to enhance production processes.

Profile

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 3+ years of experience in a testing environment.
  • 2+ years of experience with SolidWorks (Required).
  • 2+ years of experience with 3-D CAD software and Database Management tools (Required).
  • Ability to integrate across multiple functional departments (both in the US and globally) and work as a strong team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, highly dynamic start-up environment.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • US work authorization (Required).
  • Prior experience in microelectronics or photonics manufacturing services (Preferred).
  • Experience in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (Preferred).
