As a Metrology Technician for Dorman, you will support metrology lab functions by performing data collection, dimensional inspections and calibrations. In this role, you will utilize equipment such as laser scanners, CMMs (FARO), optical measurement systems, and hand measurement tools to collect data and create and submit detailed inspection reports and data files for use in product development or quality inspection. This role is onsite in our corporate headquarters in suburban Philadelphia (Colmar, PA) Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM. Primary Duties
  • Utilize lab best practices to prepare sample parts for evaluation.
  • Identify and use the appropriate equipment to obtain required measurements.
  • Document results in standard report formats and record observations made during testing.
  • Effectively communicate results to Engineers, Metrologist and Lab Manager.
  • Maintain and calibrate a variety of dimensional inspection equipment.
  • Maintain a lean environment using 5S practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with vehicle systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and interpreting technical drawings preferred.
  • Documented diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated communication ability.
  • Documented organizational and time-management skills
  • Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 40 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
Education / Experience
  • Technical school diploma or Associates degree in mechanical technology preferred.
  • 0-3 years' experience as a mechanical or test technician in a manufacturing or laboratory environment preferred.
