LAUNDRY ATTENDANTDEPARTMENT: Housekeeping REPORTS TO: Executive Housekeeper STATUS: Non-Exempt SUMMARY: As a Laundry Attendant, you play a vital role in the hotel operations by providing a constant and adequate supply of fresh, clean linens for guests of the entire hotel and restaurant. The Laundry Attendant is responsible for performing all stages of linen processing, including handling the washing of bed and dining linens and towels, sorting, weighing, loading and unloading, ironing, drying, and folding. Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed. This position is located offsite from the hotel at the laundry facility. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sort dirty laundry from laundry carts by type.
- Washing items with commercial laundry equipment following proper sanitization protocols.
- Load articles into washers and dryers at regular intervals to ensure steady availability of towels and linens, mattress pads, and blankets.
- Take wet, clean items and dry as directed.
- Unloading laundry from commercial dryers.
- Sort and fold dried laundry.
- Stocking laundry supplies such as detergent, bleach, laundry bags and fabric softener. Keeping an inventory of supplies.
- Inspect linens for stains and rips, tears or holes. Removing stains from items using the appropriate procedures. Reporting rips, tears or holes to Executive Housekeeper.
- Observe machine operations and report malfunctions or hazards. Daily clean out of dryer lint traps.
- Follow all safety and OSHA regulations and other applicable state and local regulations.
- Be responsible for assigned keys and following hotel key control policies.
- Assist with generating a list of linen needs and monthly losses per schedule or as requested.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the laundry facility.
- Sweep and mop laundry floors, storing all linens off the floor.
- Other miscellaneous duties or projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to work independently.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks throughout each shift.
- Attention to detail when sorting items and handling delicate fabrics.
- Be familiar with the handling and use of all chemicals used to carry out the tasks of this position.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience as laundry attendant or housekeeping preferred.
- Familiarity with using commercial laundry equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Standing for extended periods of time and moving laundry loads.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and up to 25 lbs often. Must be able to push/pull up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms in any direction. Bend, kneel and stoop repeatedly.
REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Closed toe, non-skid and non-canvas shoes.
