Job Summary: This position performs a variety of tasks regarding the storage, inventory, and distribution of linen and uniforms to various locations within the Medical Center as well as the collection of soiled linens. This position is responsible for scheduling and maintaining staff training and overall supervision of staff. Requirements 1. Receives, segregates, counts and records number of items of soiled linen and uniforms for repair or laundering, and places items in containers. 2. All soiled linen has been removed from each user area at least once during the work shift. Linen needing mending is separated and delivered to seamstress. Mops and rags are delivered to Environmental Services on schedule. Soiled linen is collected and prepared for pickup by linen service 30 minutes prior to scheduled pickup time. Documented violation of above shall not occur more than twice annually. 3. Examines laundered items to ensure cleanliness and serviceability. 4. All linen returned from linen service is checked for cleanliness. No stained or soiled linen is sent to a user area. Documented violation of above shall not occur more than twice annually. 5. Stores laundered items on shelves. 6. All linen is sorted and stored in appropriate area. Documented violation of above shall not occur more than twice annually. 7. All linen carts are filled to daily standards. All stat deliveries are completed within 15 minutes of receipt. All clean linen carts are delivered by the appointed time daily. Sufficient scrub suits in appropriate sizes are sent to each department daily. No calls are received requesting additional linen after scheduled delivery, except in emergency. Documented violation of above shall not occur more than twice annually. 8. Conducts monthly and yearly inventories to identify items for replacement. 9. Collects and transports linen (cleaned and soiled) to designated areas. 10. Assists in conducting inventories when scheduled. Documented violation of above shall not occur more than once annually. 11. Keeps linen room in clean and orderly condition. 12. All clean linen carts are free of dust and kept covered during transport. Storage shelves are free of dust. Examines soiled containers for cleanliness. Reports and makes corrections when errors are found. Washer and dryer wiped down after each use. Filters checked prior to use. Wheels on linen carts are cleaned at least monthly to remove strings, etc. Documented violation of above shall not occur more than twice annually. 13. Reports any mechanical failures or negative conditions as observed in assigned area for preparation of a work order for Maintenance. 14. Instructions from immediate supervisors are carried out with a sense of urgency. Attends departmental in-services as scheduled. Documented violation of above shall not occur more than twice annually. 15. Demonstrates adherence of patient safety goals in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. 16. Demonstrates use of appropriate communication at all times in accordance with Human Resource policies and procedures. 17. Demonstrates acknowledgement of customer requests within five minutes. 18. Demonstrates protection of patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with hospital policies. 19. Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling/assignments, and offers assistance to others when assignments are completed. 20. Demonstrates utilization of resources when unable to complete assignments in accordance to policies and procedures. 21. Demonstrates completion of all assigned job duties in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, standards, and/or protocols. 22. Demonstrates adherence of the mission, vision, and services of the organization with Human Resource policies and procedures. 23. Demonstrates adherence of dress code and wears hospital's identification badge in accordance with hospital and departmental policies. 24. Performs any other tasks which may be assigned. 25. Is responsible for developing work schedules of employees. 26. Will perform yearly in-service training. 27. Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the department.
