ATTENDT - LINEN ROOM ATTENDANT - 8300SUMMARYLinen Room Attendant controls and coordinates the linen and uniform distribution throughout the facilities. Recommends changes that would improve linen services and effective cost reduction. Performs other duties as listed in Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Keeps work station neat and clean.JOB DUTIESDaily communication required between Linen Company and Linen Dept. Communication between Liberty & Grove Linen attendants, Manager, and MMC staff on a daily basis. Consists of linen usage patterns, ordering, and Quality ControlMaintain effective record keeping of incoming linen. Maintain accurate daily linen usage records and communicate with Manager to usage patterns and linen usage.Notify Surgery or CPD if you haven't received their Linen order.Unpacks, sorts, inspects, counts, and records linen items seven days a week.Restocks and prepares linen delivery carts and Linen Room storage shelves with clean, acceptable linen. Inventory of items on Linen Room shelves must be accurate.Delivers linen to floors and departments according to schedule and designated delivery days. Fills patient floor and department requisitions daily by counting and meeting par levels.Responsible for distribution of linen and uniforms neatly and according to established procedures.Check patient census daily and activity that effect linen usage and ordering.Prepares order for daily linen usage of linen items. Emails order to company six days a week before deadline.Returns and records linen not meeting our quality standards to company for credit.Cleans/disinfects counters, shelves, floors, and carts using a disinfectant detergent.Inspect Linen cart covers in linen room and all departments for repairs and cleanliness.Inspect carts/wheels daily and send work order to FED for repairs.Completes work orders for any areas needing repairs as seen during your day-to-day activities.Trains new staff in Linen Room procedures, routines, recordkeeping, and the use of the all-applicable computer programs.Enters preceptor code in badge reader.Demonstrates the ability to set appropriate work priorities.Proficient in Linen Waster and Linen Monitoring/Calculating computer programs.SPECIFIC JOB DEMANDSStrength: Heavy Work -Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling 50 - 100 Lbs. occasionally, 20 - 50 Lbs. frequently, 10 - 20 Lbs. constantly.Climbing: Occasionally - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet, and legs or hands and arms. Body agility is important.Stooping: Frequently - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.Kneeling: Frequently - Bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees.Crouching: Frequently - Bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.Reaching: Frequently - Extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.Handling: Frequently - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand, such as to turn a switch or shift automobile gears.Talking: Occasionally - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.Hearing: Occasionally - Perceiving the nature of sounds by ear.Near Acuity: Occasionally - Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Accommodation: Frequently - Adjustment of lens of eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This factor is required when doing near point work at varying distances from the eye.Color Vision: Frequently - Ability to identify and distinguish colors.MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREDMust be able to read, write, and follow written and oral directions.Math ability for counting statistical reporting.Must be a High School graduate or equivalent.Previous linen experience preferred.Previous healthcare and / or institutional Environmental Service experience preferred.Must be able to communicate clearly with other members of the healthcare team, customers, and guests.Computer experience including software programs necessary.WORKING CONDITIONSWork areas are routinely clean within the hospital facility; however, upon occasion may be hot.
