Salary: $19.48 - $21.08 HourlyLocation : Justice Building - Roseburg, ORJob Type: Part Time - non benefitedJob Number: 2024-00124Department: County CounselOpening Date: 12/10/2024Closing Date: 1/10/2025 11:59 PM PacificTHE POSITION Douglas County - County Counsel Part time non-benefited position scheduled to work 12 hours per week. Job Summary: Responsible for performing the duties related to law library operations and patron services of the Douglas County Law Library, which includes clerical, technical and paraprofessional law librarian functions and related work as required. Supervision is not a general function of this position, but the incumbent may act as a lead worker to volunteers.Essential Functions:This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.
  • Provide assistance to patrons in locating their requested printed or electronic materials.
  • Plan and coordinate materials acquisitions, collection, user services and technological services for law library facilities; ensure efficient operations in cataloging, shelving, filing, placement, and processing of incoming law library materials to maintain timely and appropriate updates; maintain collection inventory lists for materials not cataloged.
  • Review legal journals, magazines, blogs or other related materials for proper placement of reference materials; Maintain recordkeeping system for ordering, receiving and processing new books, materials, and/or computer-based library sources.
  • Verify and process accounts payable invoices and cancellation refund requests to Management & Finance Department, track expenses, process billings for copy charges and monitor payments to balance to general ledger.
  • Process incoming mail; answer phones, and coordinate facility or equipment repairs and maintenance as needed; monitor accuracy of website information to update links and hours of operation as needed from time to time.
  • Coordinate scheduling of annual meeting of the Law Library Advisory Committee; prepare agenda or other requested meeting documents, take minutes, make recommendations for material retention; circulate proposed annual budget.
  • Regular work attendance required to maintain operating hours. The balance of the various duties, responsibilities and/or assignments of this position may change from time to time based upon management's decisions on how to best allocate resources. Any shift, emphasis or rebalancing does not constitute a change in the essential functions of the job classification.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. however, the following is preferred.
  • Associates Degree plus two years working experience in a legal field that includes legal research, library practices, or other relevant law library work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree with sufficient course work in legal studies including legal research.
  • Master's degree in library studies.
