Job DescriptionPOSITION OBJECTIVEThe Program Manager will be an essential member of the leadership team of the Reproductive Rights Law Initiative (RRLI), developing and managing a portfolio of programs and partnerships. This position will work in close collaboration with the faculty Director to develop and manage RRLI programs and projects. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the center's staff, programming, and projects. The Program Manager will provide programmatic, logistical, and financial oversight for all center programs and projects, including development, financial management, program/event coordination, communication and marketing, research support for faculty and students, external liaison, and education. The long-term goal of this position is to strategically grow the center to become a leading national center. The Program Manager represents the center to internal and external constituents; the latter includes the broader community; national and regional organizations, advocacy and research; and local, state and federal legislative and legal offices. Note: This position is funded by a grant, and its renewal is contingent upon the ongoing availability of grant funds. The role beyond the grant periESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Work closely with Director to develop strategic goals for the center based on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and environmental threats. Use data to evaluate current research, policy, education, and marketing initiatives to inform strategic planning and implementation. Monitor strategic initiatives, adjusting activities as necessary to facilitate the center's growth in areas of research, policy, education, marketing and financial sustainability. Represent the center and communicate the RRLIs interests, policies, and practices through service with local, state and federal organizations. Develop (as appropriate) and maintain databases of all activities of the center including events, education and student engagement, policy initiatives, research initiatives, marketing and communications, etc. Analyze data within databases on a quarterly basis and present recommendations for how the center can best achieve strategic goals. Conduct research such as literature reviews, surveys and informational interviews on best practices within the sector to inform programmatic decisions. (15%)2. Provide paralegal level litigation support including proofing, formatting, and filing legal documents and organizing materials for arguments and hearings. Manage all electronic files for litigation and other legal work. (20%)3. Assist in preparation of grant proposals and reports (writing, budgeting, and supporting documentation, including preliminary proposals). Use data to evaluate current development opportunities and help develop a diversified funding portfolio to sustain RRLI programs. Confer and provide assistance, and advice to development officers at the School of Law. Assist with fundraising throughout the year, which includes making the contacts and handling the management of the budget, using data to evaluate past and current initiatives, develop new initiatives with faculty associates and organizations through scheduling meetings, providing grant support where applicable and overseeing the spending of awarded grant funds. Provide leadership and support for the grant-writing activities of the RRLI by reviewing grant opportunities as well as writing proposals and applications. Submit information through SPARTA. Oversee all financial reports and documents through the completion of the grant project. (20%)4. Elevate the Reproductive Rights Law Initiative locally and nationally with clear marketing and communication strategies in collaboration with University Marketing and Communications. Oversee the RRLIs webpage and social media (for students, faculty, staff and community members) and ensure compliance with branding and university standards. Determine goals that align with the RRLIs Strategic Plan for social media, print and web-based communications and implement processes that will achieve these goals. Use data to evaluate and improve upon marketing and communication strategies. Design marketing materials for all events and distribute them through email, mail, social media, community/ university partners, and any other avenues to increase attendance and engagement. Write, edit and manage all print and web-based communications and publications (e.g. annual report). In conjunction with University Marketing and Communications, develop themes and make production decisions regarding all marketing materials and communications. Oversee collaboration with independent contractors, as needed. (15%)5. Develop, plan, deliver and evaluate public programs/events, including content for events and overseeing event staffing and management, which provide professional development opportunities for faculty, students, and practitioners. Assist with logistical arrangements (lodging, meals, etc.). Use data to create targeted marketing campaigns and evaluate events for desired impact on the university and nationally. (10%)6. Oversee financial functioning of the Center, based on strategic goals for sustainable growth. Negotiate, approve, and process invoices. Develop and prepare budgets for funding initiatives to local and national foundations and federal agencies. Allocate annual budget and funds according to endowment and grant parameters and center needs. Audit expenses and income monthly. Create monthly forecasts of balances and complete long-term forecasting for optimal use of endowment funds that allow the center to sustain current activities and allow for the creation and implementation of new initiatives. Review current revenue streams for the center and determine where growth is possible. Consider, develop and evaluate revenue-generating plans that align with the centers mission such as solicitation, grants, corporate and foundation funding, development of revenue-generating programs, etc. Initiate, complete and approve required documentation for expenditures such as payment requests, purchase requisitions, travel expense forms, payroll vouchers, and cost transfers. Authorize all large and small office purchases, making sure these are within grant and endowment parameters and budgets. (10%)7. Lead the development and implementation of efficient systems and routines for increasing operational capacity to achieve strategic goals. Supervise non-legal student interns, temporary employees, and additional hires for the center and guide them to contribute to the mission of the center. Oversee all daily operations of the center.
