job summary: Our client is a large publicly traded utility company with over 6,000 employees in 25 states. They have an opening for a Lead Accountant, who will be responsible for gathering and analyzing financial and accounting data for specific company subsidiaries and ensuring the subsidiary general ledgers are accurate and complete. This position is Hybrid/Remote with three days onsite and two days from home per week expected.location: Cherry Hill, New Jersey job type: Permanent salary: $100,000 - 110,000 per year work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelor's degree experience: 5 Years responsibilities: Responsibilities:
- Prepares journal entries and aids in the monthly financial close process.
- Reviews financial results and variances, ensuring the subsidiary general ledgers are accurate and complete.
- Conducts key account analyses and reconciliations, promptly investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Provides reporting, data, and analysis to support consolidation and the External Reporting team in meeting quarterly and annual SEC reporting obligations.
- Prepares quarterly and annual financial statements for subsidiaries and ensures compliance with US GAAP, state utility regulations, internal controls, and company policies.
- Assists with annual audits, including both consolidated and subsidiary audits, and coordinates with external auditors.
- Interprets rate case orders and other regulatory decisions, implementing appropriate accounting practices.
- Collaborates with teams such as Financial Analysis, Budgeting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Call Center Operations, and Tax to provide information and analysis on accounting and reporting issues.
qualifications: Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of accounting experience is required.
- Desired experience includes corporate and/or multi-subsidiary companies.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- CPA or an advanced degree is preferred.
