Summary:The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to; registering all new patients, obtaining the necessary information from them upon arrival. Functioning as an operator for the entire hospital and as an answering service for physicians. Also performs general clerical duties. Leads the team when supervisor is not on site.Responsibilities: (40%)* Provide input to supervisor on employees' performance on a regular basis. Assist in interviewing and selection of replacement staff. Responsible for staff training, orientation program, and continued clinical competency. Provides leadership and guidance to department. Maintains open interdepartmental communication to ensure quality customer care and service. Maintains patient schedule and department throughput on a daily basis. Maintains staff work schedule based on daily workload. Delegates work duties as needed to maintain a smooth flow.(20%)* Completes registration of incoming patients.(20%)* Know insurances and how they interact with one another. Know basic reimbursement and ability to explain it to the public.(10%)* Performs duties of the physician answering service.(10%)* Maintains appropriate files and records. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Appropriately assign beds and works closely with nursing and accurate census at any given time.Participates and attends meetings as required.Accurate and complete demographic information is obtained to ensure integrity of data base.Acts as a patient advocate, crossing multi-disciplinary lines to meet patient needs.Give activity report to next shift of on call changes, situations in ER, House Manager, etc.Demonstrates competency in Infection Prevention and Control Practices and Policies.Other duties as assigned.Functions as the hospital operator.Performs general department clerical duties.Know requirements for consent for treatment and knowledge of guardianship as well as Mental Health Consent.Ability to handle effectively multiple tasks simultaneously.Appropriately maintains department and physician on-call schedule.Respond appropriate to alarms located at switchboard. Certifications and Licensures:N/ARequired Education:High school diploma or GED is required.Other Information:Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done as required.Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs. #J-18808-Ljbffr
