Works alongside of Air Drill / Planter Recon crew members and is expected to work on air drill and planter recon a high percentage of the time, Advises and recommends to the Service Dispatch regarding technician skills and training needs. Responsibilities:
  • Assists with the assignment of jobs and work areas to Air Drill / Planter recon employees according to their skills and knowledge.
  • Spend majority of time engaged in the reconditioning of air drills and planters alongside of the Air Drill / Planter recon technicians.
  • Assists in the appraisal of reconditioning jobs coming into the Service Dispatcher.
  • May review repair orders for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assists Service Dispatch in maintaining a 3-day billing cycle by maintaining timely work order completion.
  • Assists with development and training of Air Drill / Planter recon technicians and provide performance feedback for Service Dispatch.
  • Works with Service Dispatch to identify and execute continuous process improvements.
  • Directs and assists in the diagnosis of machine problems.
  • Recommends new tooling as required.
  • Advises Service Dispatch of all customer complaints.
  • Coordinates and schedules all in-house Air Drill / Planter recon crew training through Service Dispatch.
  • Assists the Service Dispatch with coordinating and conducting quarterly safety meetings.
  • May participate in re-conditioning of used air drills and planters and set-up of new planters and air drills.
  • May participate in the installation of precision update kits (PUKs) on all John Deere equipment.
  • May approve the release of equipment for delivery to the customer.
  • May assist in the completion of Product Improvement Programs and warranty repairs on air drills and planters.
  • May work with parts salesman on acquiring parts for reconditioning of air drills and planters.
  • May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
  • Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere air drills, planters and PUKs.
  • Responsible for delivering a high-level customer experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • 3+ years of experience performing air drill and planter reconditioning; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred.
  • Experience leading a team and working cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Experience using special tools and following Technical Manual procedures on planters and air drills.
  • Experience with the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in air drills and planters preferred.
  • Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Experience with basic computer functions; Experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred.
  • Experience communicating effectively verbally, over the phone and in writing.
  • Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred.
  • Ability to work away from home, including overnight stays up to 3 nights per week
