Lead Apparel Designer – Woven Tops & Dresses

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco

Compensation: Up to $65/hr

Contract Duration: 6 months

About the Role

An iconic global fashion brand is seeking a talented Lead Apparel Designer specializing in Woven Tops & Dresses. This role is focused on creating trend-forward, commercially viable products that align with our brand identity and elevate our Women's Knits collection. Your design expertise will be essential in driving seasonal concepts and maintaining the brand's unique aesthetic.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the Women's Tops Director to develop seasonal concepts for Woven Tops & Dresses.
  • Partner with the Director & CAD designer to establish seasonal print stories.
  • Deliver on-brand, trend-right designs that balance brand equity with profitability.
  • Engage cross-functional teams, including Merchandising, Product Development, and Sourcing, to ensure high-quality products that meet aesthetic and profit goals.
  • Maintain data accuracy for PLM BOM, ensuring seamless transitions through prototyping, commercial sampling, and production.
  • Manage go-to-market timelines, processes, and deliverables efficiently.

What You'll Need

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 8+ years in apparel design, with comprehensive expertise in textiles and product development.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, PLM systems, and garment construction techniques.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable with a fast-paced environment, able to handle last-minute changes with composure.
  • Communication: Effective interpersonal and organizational skills, especially in working with senior directors.
  • Judgment: Ability to exercise discretion, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions.
  • Energy & Passion: A positive, proactive approach with a passion for fashion heritage and style.
