Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Center for Career Development & Testing (CCDT) Lead Career Advisor builds a career development curriculum and supports undergraduate and graduate students as well as university alumni by providing equitable career coaching services, facilitating professional skills development training, and managing the coordination of career events, in collaboration with the university community and employer partners.
Essential Functions:
* Provide individual and group career coaching and exploration services, resume development, interview skills,networking, business best practices, and other career skill training to diverse student populations including first-generation, veteran and adult learners, as well as university alumni.
* Advise students on career planning, professional skills development, online tools, and experiential learningopportunities, as well as job search and networking strategies.
* In collaboration with the Director, coordinate and implement career events such as career fairs, panels,workshops, information sessions, networking events, mentoring programs, and other related career activities.
* Serve in a leadership and mentoring capacity for career advising team members; in conjunction with the Director,provides professional development to career advisors.
* Support the development and maintenance of CCDT partnerships with local, regional, and national employers.
* Collaborate with faculty and staff to strategically market all department career and testing services to supportstudent engagement.
* Actively outreach, recruit, and prepare students in targeted academic areas to successfully participate in on-campus recruiting, information sessions, and other career-related events; seek collaborative partnerships with on-campus groups and faculty to best promote the services and events of the CCDT to targeted academic areas.
* Seek opportunities to learn and stay current with the latest trends of assigned industries and academic fields, suchas knowing OLLU faculty in area, latest academic program updates, trends of the industry, internship and jobopportunities available in field, certification options in the field, etc.
* Provide relevant information on employment opportunities and labor market trends to students and alumni usinglocal, state, and federal resources (DOL, State of Texas, and San Antonio Economic Development forecasts, etc)
* Conduct outreach to current and prospective students and family members to promote the benefits of marketableskills, job market data, experiential learning, degree completion, and testing services.
* Develop and refine a career development curriculum; develop instructional materials for various constituencies.
* Support the management and promotion of internship and job postings, surveys, and career resources onHandshake (career database).
* Train students on how to set-up and maintain a Handshake account and link to the goals of the SEEKTransformation program; train appropriate university and employer constituencies on the platform and how to runreports.
* Assist in the collection and reporting of CCDT and Title V grant data.
* Provide department leadership in the absence of the Director.
* Professionally represent Our Lady of the Lake University in interfacing/communicating with internal and externalconstituents and stakeholders.
* Support current graduate students in collaboration with the Graduate Student Center, by providing career-relatedevents, presentations, and coaching.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Assists with publicity of office services and events.
* Provides support at Lake Days, Blue Nation Orientation, and other Student Affairs events. Participates in other university activities and programs as requested and assigned.
* Other related duties as assigned by the CCDT Director.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Strong knowledge of career counseling and/or coaching methodologies
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Exemplary organizational skills with particular attention to detail
* Ability to consistently follow up with constituents and meet deadlines
* Evidence of public speaking/presentation experience
* Demonstrated effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a broad range of internal and external constituents
* Ability to learn and comprehensively utilize the Handshake platform
* Knowledge of NACE resources and competencies
* Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as necessary
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communication, Psychology, Counseling, Human Resource Management, or related field required.
* Some graduate-level credit hours required; master's degree preferred.
* Four years of experience in higher education, human resources training, employment counseling, and/or providing career services (master's degree may substitute two years of experience).
* Marketing, partnership development, and/or program management experience required.
