TITLE: Lead Chemical Plant Operator / Shift SupervisorLOCATION: Cambridge, OHBASIC FUNCTION:PFP Industries is an O&G chemical manufacturer seeking an experienced lead chemical plant operator and/or production shift supervisor with familiarity of chemical handling, material transfer, truck loading/unloading, forklift driving, and batch manufacturing in an automated plant environment.The lead operator / shift supervisor is a working chemical plant operator that oversees the entire plant's operations during his/her assigned shift. They manage both the workers and the equipment within their area as well as ensure all mixing activities are completed as outlined on batch procedures. Their goal is to ensure that the production process runs safely and smoothly and that the plant produces quality results. They coordinate their efforts with technical and supervisory workers across all departments.The lead operator/production supervisor is continuously working through the Plant Manager and leadership team to review and update shift expectations while working diligently to execute production schedules. Actively communicate what is required each shift to ensure nothing is lost in translation. To be effective, this requires input after shift to quickly check, monitor and inquire status and then update the team accordingly. Currently, there are a lot of eyes watching every step of the day, so it is also critical to keep open communication with not only your direct reports, but the leadership team so everyone is in tune. You should be aware of what's going on with your team, using any combination of routine meetings, reviewing shift logs daily, texting/calling, etc.Monitor automated portions of process regularly on plant's process automation control screens. Support operations with any chemical transfers required in the control system, as needed.This role will commit the majority of time each week to physically overseeing critical operations (i.e., monitoring chemical blends, truck loading/unloading, monitoring throughput, and doing so next to our operators, coaching, explaining, and building their level of expertise). Rotate staffing specifically to meet your schedule so that you have time to coach, train, monitor, and engage the newer and/or less trained. You set the example for what 'good' looks like and will be tasked with getting any new hires up to speed assigned on your shift. This requires mastering each role within the operations realm.The plant operates 24-5, so a willingness to work shifts, long hours, and weekends (on rotation) will be expected during busy periods. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and assigned shift supervisors.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership coverage for shifts, especially on weekends or in hours of operation where organization is light/short manpower/in training. Critical tasks require leadership on site. We cannot have people unsupervised, and weekend work requires crisp scope as this is overtime and extremely costly to the organization.Drive the production schedule: Coordinate as needed between QC, Maintenance, Leadership, 3rd party logistics, and the Operations staff to ensure production schedules are met without interruption.Review challenges from each shift daily, and work within the organization to address, where needed. Define operational supply needs (raw materials, warehouse supplies, PPE, hoses, equipment).Communicate/coordinate maintenance activities.Evaluate plant bottlenecks and develop ideas/plans on how to improve efficiency.Re-direct/train operators and assign responsibilities to maximize shift efficiency. Monitor, document, and review critical performance indicators as the organization begins to utilize these to track performance. In addition, propose new ones where you see issues.Ensure the safe use of equipment and support maintenance, as needed on repairs/preventive care.Coordinate with QC Department to ensure production output meets internal and customer specifications.Housekeeping: Ensure plant is well maintained/clean at all times.Hazardous Waste Management: Document regular inventories and work with management to schedule shipments to keep adequate space to continually operate.Train new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures.Enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards.Admin: Review & complete BOL/Shipping Paperwork, as needed; review timecards on shift, as needed.Support other departments, i.e., maintenance, capital projects, quality control when plants are short-staffed or in need of emergency support. Plant Leads/Supervisors also support warehousing activities by loading and unloading pallets/totes of materials, transferring them to storage or to the plant. In addition, they will also support bulk loading and unloading chemicals throughout their shift.Lastly, all plant staff are required to participate and attend all the safety and environmental training classes provided by the organization. #J-18808-Ljbffr
