Position Type: Support Staff/Food Service Date Posted: 9/28/2023 Location: Boyne City High School District: Boyne City Schools - website Boyne City Public Schools is looking for a part-time Lead Cook for the high school for 5.75 hours per day. Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • Candidates must have high standards of quality, be dependable, and work very well both independently and as a member of a team.
  • This is a fast-paced job. Good general health and physical stamina are needed.
  • Reports to: Director of Food Service Job Goal: To prepare and serve students and staff attractive and nutritious meals in an efficient, clean and positive atmosphere. Performance Responsibilities:
  • Plan the preparation of all baked and cooked items.
  • Prepare food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and numbers of portions to be served and ensure the finished product is of the best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served.
  • Clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, and poultry.
  • Portion and serve food to students and employees.
  • Monitor use of government food commodities to ensure that proper procedures are followed.
  • Monitor food distribution, ensuring that meals are delivered to the correct recipients and that guidelines such as those for special diets are followed.
  • Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas in order to ensure cleanliness, functional operation, and that sanitary conditions are met.
  • Maintain records of foods prepared, used, leftover, discarded, and record the information on the appropriate forms in accordance with the Food Safety Plans and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Follow SOP of food safety in preparing and storing foods
  • Clean and sterilize dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, and facilities.
  • Reports inferior quality of food or faulty equipment to the appropriate authority.
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere in the kitchen where other staff can openly communicate concerns and needs of the school and students.
  • Offer cooperation and assistance where needed for in-school activities and events.
  • Attend staff meetings when directed by the Food Service Director.
  • Counts money, make change, and completes related reports/paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.
