JOB TITLE: Lead Cook
DEPARTMENT: Senior Services
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cook and present food according to established quality standards of AOA Title VI-Meskwaki Senior Citizens Grant Program.
- Direct and engage in the preparation of large quantities of food and coordinate processes so that meals are prepared and served on time.
- Provide standardized recipe management and portion size control.
- Ensure that Safety and Sanitation Policy and Procedures are adhered to by all staff.
- Responsible for requisitions of food purchases and supplies, and inventory control according to the menu approved/monitored by the Senior Services Director.
- Report to work on time and as required in professional attire, display a high level of personal cleanliness and follow personal appearance standards.
- Provide lead direction, instruction, and work review to Food Service Workers and other assigned staff.
- Plan, prepare, cook and bake food needed for activities, events, and special food programs.
- On a monthly basis, record lunch data, provide report to Director
- Create monthly menu (s) using a standard heart healthy, senior balanced recipe.
- Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
- Transport and/or deliver as needed.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- HS Diploma or G.E.D.
- Three (3) years of prior cooking and supervisory experience.
- Must possess knowledge of applicable laws, rules, guidelines, and regulations related to nutrition, meal planning, food preparation, and kitchen safety.
- Must possess SafeServe certification and CPR/First Aid Certification or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire date.
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds with occasional periods of heavier lifting.
- Must be able to stand/walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to frequently bend, squat, reach above shoulder level, balance, and push or pull equipment.
- Must be able type and knowledgeable in excel, word, and Outlook.
- Required to wear tread safety/non-slip shoes.
- Ability to speak and understand the Meskwaki language preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable.
- 35 hours. Flexible scheduling
SUPERVISION:
- Will be supervised by the Senior Services Director.
SALARY:
- Annual Salary: $37,856 - $52,936
