Job Description:

Facebook seeks a highly motivated team player to serve as Lead Counsel, Brands & Marketing. The primary responsibility of this role is to protect our famous global brands. The position will also advise our marketing teams on various initiatives. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on interesting issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support product teams in selecting, protecting, and enforcing their brands.
  • Advise clients on new names and logos in connection with frequent feature and product launches.
  • Manage global trademark prosecution and enforcement for designated brands.
  • Direct outside trademark counsel in execution of portfolio and enforcement strategies.
  • Communicate with internal clients and partners regarding brand protection and enforcement philosophies.
  • Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of trademark strategies and processes.
  • Support marketing and promotional initiatives, including counseling partners on marketing compliance and contests, sweepstakes and giveaways requirements and reviewing copy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, policy and communications and other stakeholders on multi-disciplinary issues.
  • Travel and collaborate with colleagues across multiple time zones.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • JD degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 5+ years of legal experience, from in-house or a law firm.
  • Experience protecting global brands.
  • Experience with trademark and copyright law.
  • Experience with laws governing advertisements (claim substantiation, false advertising) and promotions (contests, sweepstakes, giveaways).
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with privacy, data protection and consumer protection requirements.
  • Experience thinking and moving quickly, and juggling many different projects at once.
  • Interpersonal skills and impeccable judgment.
  • Team player who likes to work with others to get the job done.
